Attendance and Term Time Holidays:
In September 2013 the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 came into force. These regulations make it clear that Headteachers should not grant approval for any leave of absence during term-time, including holidays, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Any requests should be on an official school absence request form and handed into the school office for consideration prior to any holiday/leave arrangements being made.
You may be issued with a Penalty Notice should leave be taken which is not authorised.
Most minor worries can be resolved by discussion with the class teacher. More serious problems should be referred to the headteacher who may bring the matter to the attention of the school governors. These problems can usually be resolved informally within the school. Where local agreement cannot be reached there is an official complaints procedure for
bringing matters to the attention of the Area Education Officer. Copies of the procedure and relevant forms are available from the school.
All activities which take place during school time are free of charge with the exception of some music tuition. However, activities such as educational visits place an enormous strain on school finances and the school will normally seek voluntary contributions in order to pay for these activities. Educational visits are an important part of the learning process and so that they can continue, your support would be much appreciated. It is, in addition, school’s preferred policy to take years 3, 4, 5 and 6 swimming every week. The authority provide payment based only on one year group and so this also entails an additional cost to the school. It is hoped that parents will feel able to make a contribution towards this of £1 per week.
School Private Account
South Darley C.E. Primary School runs a Private School Fund. This is organised separately from the main school budgets and is used to support the school in a wide variety of ways, including the supply of extra resources for our children.
The account is externally audited annually and approved by the Governing Body. Parents/Guardians are welcome to ask to see the audited account in order to promote accountability and transparency within our schools. Please contact Mrs A Manning, School Business Assistant, for an appointment should you wish to see the accounts.
