The School Day

School hours are:

Morning 9.00 am. - 12.00 am.

Infant afternoon 1.00pm. - 3.15 pm.

Junior afternoon 1.00 pm. - 3.25 pm.

The infants week is 21 hours 25 minutes long and the juniors work for 23 hours 30 minutes. Children are welcomed onto the site from 08.50 onwards each day. They go straight into their classrooms where their teachers are waiting, ready to start the day.

There are two short breaks in addition to the longer dinner break. These are at 10.30 am. and 2.15 pm. We encourage the children to bring a drink to have at the first break.  We would be grateful if you would use plastic bottles or flasks for these drinks as cans and glass bottles are so dangerous in school. Some children also bring a small snack such as fruit. The school is taking part in the government’s ‘Free Fruit for Children’ scheme which means that Infants have a piece of fruit provided by the school at morning play each day.

Lunches currently cost £10.00 for the week, payable weekly, monthly or every half-term. The Authority provides a vegetarian alternative every day as well as sandwiches. We believe that these are healthy and provide excellent value for money. Provision is also made for children to eat packed lunches. We must ask that these be restricted to cold meals only.  Some parents are eligible to claim free school meals for their children. Forms for this are available in school and we would encourage parents to apply. Children receiving these meals are treated in exactly the same way as all the other children having lunch.

We do not encourage the children to bring their own toys from home into school. However, in the Infant Class the children will be offered an opportunity to bring a toy or other interesting item for our regular ‘show and tell’ slot.
