Welcome to South Darley Church of England Primary School.
We are a thriving village school in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales — small in size, yet big in ambition for every child. That ambition starts with being known: our children learn in three classes, an average of about 18 in a class, and every child is known individually, never just a name. From that foundation comes a rich education — every junior learns a musical instrument, every junior swims each year, and our long-running partnership with schools in Kolkata opens a genuine window onto the wider world.
One of our parents put it best: "I love to see how the children flourish — from shy infants to bold, confident Year 6s." In summer 2026, those Year 6s finished above the national average in reading, writing and maths. Ofsted confirmed in June 2024 that we continue to be a good school; our church inspection found "the feel of a loving family" (SIAMS, 2023).
Wraparound care runs from 8.00am to 6.00pm every school day, we have places available across the school, and our door is always open. Our film will show you around from wherever you are — and when you're ready, I would love to show you around in person. Call us on 01629 732240 to book a personal tour, or visit our Joining Us page.
Follow us on Facebook to see what life at South Darley really looks like, day to day.
Where every child is cherished.
